Upbringing and Education

The realization of our mission is achievable through the implementation of quality educational process aimed at:

  • sustainable utilization of basic skills and high level of general education for continuing education to the next level
  • language training aimed at knowledge of English and Russian
  • creation of skills and key competences for personal fulfillment and teamwork as very good computer training and knowledge of two or three foreign languages is only part of them

Foreign language learning

Curricula in English and Russian languages have been developed in accordance with state educational requirements for teaching content in foreign languages

These programs are consistent with levels of proficiency in Russian and English languages listed in the Common European Framework for Languages of the Council of Europe, and the requirements for obtaining various internationally recognized certifications.

This allows for the assimilation of preparing students in the school to the levels of language diplomas issued by the competent institutions in the studied languages.

Expandеd study of English and Russian from I to VII grade.

Day organization of the learning process allows the training of specialized programs depending on the language training of the student. If desired and if possible a third language can also be studied.

Specialized training in Russian and English from VIII to XII grade.

It is organized in two classes: one with English as a first and Russian as second language and the other with Russian first and English as second language.

The school has an agreement with Cambridge University, the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia and the A.S. Pushkin Institute of Russian Language in Moscow for additional certification of students and obtaining internationally recognized certificates upon successful passing of exams for the relevant levels of proficiency in English and Russian language.

Licenses and certificates

Language School -Russian Lyceum in Sofia is licensed by the Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria by Order № RD 14-30 / 16.05.2009 and Order № RD 14-070 /22.06.2010, and is entitled to issue the following documents:
  • Certificate for a grade
  • Certificate of completion of the initial stage of basic education
  • Certificate of primary education
  • Certificate of secondary education
  • Certificates (internationally recognized) for proficiency in English and Russian are received after the passing the respective authorized foreign institutions

Our science and technology courses provide students with the opportunity to develop their technical and analytical skills. Programs include classes in robotics, mental arithmetic, information technology and programming with Roblox.

  • Programming based on the computer game Roblox
This course introduces students to the basics of programming by creating games on the Roblox platform. They develop their logical thinking and problem-solving skills in a real-world setting.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key to the overall development of students. We offer a variety of sports activities and taekwondo classes that support physical activity and discipline.

Sports activities include a variety of physical activities that support the healthy development of students. They have the opportunity to participate in various sports games and exercises that promote an active lifestyle.
  • Taekwondo 
Taekwondo classes develop students’ physical strength, flexibility and discipline. This martial art is an excellent way to improve concentration and self-control.
At the Russian Lyceum in Sofia, we offer a wide selection of language courses that promote the improvement of communication skills and cultural understanding. Our students can study Russian, English, Spanish and Bulgarian for foreigners.
  • Russian
Our Russian language courses are designed for students who want to improve their grammar and vocabulary skills. Classes include interesting and varied exercises to develop communication skills.
  • English
English language courses offer intensive preparation with an emphasis on conversational practice and written skills. Students are introduced to the culture and traditions of English-speaking countries through various interactive learning methods.
  • Spanish

  • Bulgarian for foreigners
Our Bulgarian language courses for foreigners are designed to help students integrate more easily into the Bulgarian environment. The program includes basic language skills and cultural knowledge that facilitate everyday communication.
Our art programs develop students’ creativity and artistic abilities. They can join lessons in piano, ballet, choral singing, art speech and choreography, which enrich their cultural expression and stage presence.

Piano lessons offer students the opportunity to develop their musical talents and aural abilities. They become familiar with the basics of music theory and the practice of playing the piano.
  • Ballet
Ballet classes combine art and physical activity, developing grace and coordination of movements. Students learn various dance techniques and participate in stage performances.
  • Choir
Choral singing classes create an opportunity for joint musical creation and development of vocal skills. Students learn to sing in an ensemble and improve their musical ear.
  • Art speech
Art speech classes develop students’ oratorical skills and expressiveness. They become familiar with various literary works and learn expressive reading and recitation techniques.
  • Choreography
Choreography classes offer students the opportunity to develop their dancing abilities and creativity. They study different styles and techniques of dance by participating in the creation of dance compositions.

Facilities

In 2022, our school moved to a new, modern building that meets all modern standards for educational institutions. The building is independent and free-standing, with a total of five floors and a basement.

– Courtyard: Includes outdoor fitness facilities and a multifunctional sports field.

– Basement: Food block with included canteen, pouring and washing room; multifunctional room 1, which functions as a library and music lounge; multifunctional room 2, used as a theater, ballet hall and gymnasium.

– First floor: Foyer with separate entrance; a study room for a preschool group with a separate entrance and an open playground.

– Second floor: Classrooms and areas for recreation and social communication for classes from the elementary stage; medical office and isolator.

– Third floor: Classrooms and areas for recreation and social communication for classes in lower secondary school and upper secondary school; teacher’s room and deputy principal’s office.

– Fourth floor: Classrooms and administrative premises.

– Fifth floor: Principal’s office.

The classrooms are equipped with certified equipment, a multimedia system and individual wardrobes. Our school also has a multifunctional office for information technology, robotics, mental arithmetic, programming, modeling and interdisciplinary learning.

Uniform

The uniform consists of a sweater with the school logo, a white shirt and a black skirt or black trousers. The sports kit consists of a sports tracksuit and a t-shirt with the school logo.

The medical staff of our school not only take care of the students but teach them first aid, healthy eating, good hygiene habits, and a healthy lifestyle.

Safety

The safety of our students is of the utmost importance. The territory of the school is closed to outsiders and fenced. School has 24-hour security and video surveillance cameras around the entire perimeter.

Entry Requirements and Financial Terms 2024 - 2025

Children from I to XII classes are accepted.

Step 1. Filling out an online application..

Step 2. Interview of the Principal with the child and two parents at a pre-arranged time.

Step 3. Signing the student’s education contract, annex to it.

Required documents:

  1. Copy of child’s Birth Certificate and /or Passport;
  2. Copies of а parent Passports / ID Card / Residence Permit;
  3. Certificate of transfer from the previous school attended or school academic and attendance records for the previous academic year (where applicable). These should be translated in Bulgarian.
 

Medical documents:

  1. Questionnaire card completed by parents at the school/provided by the school medical person;
  2. Health prophylactic card child completed by GP (General Practitioner) ;
  3. Data from GP for immunization status of the child, in accordance with Regulation N15 2005 immunizations in Bulgaria. (OG. 45th 2005);
  4. Medical note from your GP about the lack of contact with infected patients, issued no earlier than 3 days before the student enters school.

Financial conditions:

Annual tuition fee – 6900 euros..

A family receives a discount when registering a second child.

Payment scheme:

  1. Initial first installment – 40% /forty percent/ of the agreed fee upon signing this Agreement.
  2. Subsequent installments – the remaining 60% /sixty percent/ of the agreed fee, proportionally distributed as follows:
    • Second installment – until November 10
    • Third installment – until December 10
    • Fourth installment – until January 10
    • Fifth installment – until February 10
    • Sixth installment – until March 10

*In case of delay in the payment of the installments after the agreed dates, the parents shall pay a penalty in the amount of 0.5% (zero whole and five percent) of the value of the due installment for each overdue day, but not more than BGN 250.00/two hundred and fifty leva/.

**Penalties for late payment are not charged upon written notification by the parents, accepted and agreed with the School Principal.
