Students from Nikator Private Secondary School, along with their principal, Shara Karsakpaeva, took part in a two-day educational excursion to the town of Hisarya in the Plovdiv Region. Renowned for its mineral springs and a rich, millennia-long history, Hisarya offered the young guests the opportunity to experience the region’s cultural and historical heritage.
The program included a visit to the Archaeological Museum, where the students viewed authentic artifacts from the ancient Roman period—ceramics, coins, architectural fragments, and inscriptions—attesting to the flourishing life in ancient Diocletianople. The group then toured the town’s main landmarks, including the preserved Roman baths and fortification walls, receiving detailed explanations of Hisarya’s history.
The second day was dedicated to the Starosel complex, one of the most important Thracian cult centers in Bulgaria. The students were able to see the impressive tomb-temple and learn about the rituals and beliefs of the ancient Thracians. All participants highly praised the well-organized program, which combined educational value with a pleasant experience. The tour deepened their interest in history and archaeology and left a lasting impression.
